Custom designed by our founder, this lovely throw blanket is woven in the hills outside of Otavalo, Ecuador by several artisan weavers in the same family. First, the threads of each color used have to be very carefully measured and hand wrapped around a wooden structure to begin every specific blanket design. After the throw is woven, the women artisans use a native plant, called a Teasal, to hand brush the fibers of the throw over and over so that the finished throw is extremely soft to the touch. The brushing with Teasal results in a beautifully lustrous finish that has a subdued shimmer under the light. Then the throw is beautifully finished by our artisans who hand sew all around the edges.
